Above 100 Citizens Arrested in London As Southport Stabbing Protest Takes Fierce Form

“Stop the boats” and “Save our kids” are often heard phrases in Hartlepool, London, when the common people throw bottles and cans at the police officers. The protesters were observed throwing flares at the statue of Winston Churchill and towards the Downing Street gates.

The protest took a rather fierce turn after the wake of the murders of three girl children in a knife attack in Southport, London. This incident took place when they were at a Taylor Swift-themed party. It caused an outburst among people and led to a violent protest. Cars were set on fire, and bottles were thrown at the Southport police officers, causing several injuries. False online rumors about the suspects caused more chaos in the area of the town’s mosque.

Following this tragic incident in Southport, more than 100 citizens have been arrested in London as the demonstration was taking a more and more serious turn. The protest broke out in multiple locations. On the night of Wednesday, a large crowd gathered in Hartlepool’s Murray Street when a police car was set ablaze. Further, the Cleveland police notified that the officers were attacked with glass bottles, eggs, and missiles.

The Manchester Evening News reported the protesters in Manchester gathered in huge numbers outside the Holiday Inn hotel on Oldham Road. The newspaper added about 40 people were there. Among the protesters were men and children, donning balaclavas.

Under the banner of “Enough is Enough,” a sizable protest was held in London on Wednesday, and following a confrontation between protesters and police in Whitehall, arrests were made.

According to the Metropolitan Police, more than 100 persons have been taken into custody on charges of violent disturbance as they were assaulting emergency personnel and violating protest guidelines.

A few police officers were slightly hurt. Protesters were observed hurling fireworks at the Winston Churchill statue in Parliament Square and hurling beer cans and glass bottles at a row of riot-clothed police officers in front of Downing Street.

On the streets, several hundred people congregated. Images and videos show demonstrators brandishing wooden bats and poles at police wearing riot shields. Children were also hurling missiles at law enforcement. In the situation, a few of the attendees were yelling out anti-immigrant slogans.

During this disorder, the police are doing their rescue work. As incident three men and a woman who looked to have been trapped in a terrace house were later freed by police. A group member helped the extremely distraught woman who appeared to be having a panic attack to safety. After a swift patrol along a street, riot-suited officers removed the gathering from a terrace house where young people had congregated outside. A police car that had caught fire during the chaos was put out by firefighters. People were observed taking selfies in front of the burned-out car after the personnel left.

53 officers and three police dogs have been hurt during the disturbances, and five people have been taken into custody thus far. The three girls were allegedly stabbed by a 17-year-old teenager, in a dancing lesson on Hart Street in Southport, Merseyside, on Monday. It resulted in the deadly stabbings of Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven.

Five of the eight additional children who suffered knife wounds are critically ill. Critical injuries also befell two adults. The defendant has been placed under arrest pending his Thursday appearance in Derby Square, the magistrate’s court in Liverpool.
