A four-and-a-half-month pregnant woman named Rupa Soni, in her 30s, a resident of the Mall Avenue area, gives birth to a stillborn baby on the road in front of gate number 13 of Raj Bhavan, Lucknow. After giving birth, the cops rushed the baby and the mother to Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Women and Child Civil Hospital around 12:30 pm, where the fetus was declared dead by the doctors. Later, the fetus is buried at Baikunth Dhaam in Lucknow. The mother’s health is stable, as stated by Dr. Nibedita Kar, Chief Medical Superintendent of Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Women and Child Hospital.
According to the reports, Soni went to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital earlier in the day as she was experiencing pain. As a result, she was given an injection, but she didn’t get relief. On her way, she delivered the baby. The family took a rickshaw to travel due to the non-availability of an ambulance at the time. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also visited the incident area and stated that they will take care of the lady and will bear all her medical expenses. The CM also attended the fetus’s funeral later. However, Brajesh Pathak also oversees the Health Portfolio of the city and has ordered an investigation into the alleged negligence of ambulance staff who failed to arrive on time.
In this incident, the opposition led by Akhilesh Yadav has questioned the public service and availability of ambulances in the capital of Uttar Pradesh on X. Shilpa Yadav has also tweeted that the state health system is on a ventilator. They have asked whether the chief minister will address this issue or prioritize bulldozers.
