From Yoga to Youth Empowerment: 50 Volunteers Unite for a Transformative NSS Camp at Daulat Ram College for 7 Days

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Daulat Ram College successfully concluded its transformational seven-day camp held from March 17 to 23, 2025, under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Savita Roy and Programme Officer & Convener Dr. Sharda Gautam. The camp was a focus of community service, skill building, and personal growth that left a lasting impact on all participants.
The camp began with an energetic yoga session, engaging ice-breaking activities and a grand inaugural ceremony, followed by a vibrant cultural programme. The excitement was at its peak when fifty enthusiastic volunteers participated in ten teams. They took part in several exciting competitions like debate, poetry recitation, quiz, drama, rangoli making, poster designing and the ever thrilling tug of war.
The camp organised interactive workshops on Fine Arts (conducted by Spectra, the Fine Arts Society of Daulat Ram College), Dance (conducted by Anhad, the Dance Society of Daulat Ram College) and Preventive Measures for Disaster Management (by Miss Deepshikha) which provided practical learning experience.
Throughout the camp, the volunteers attended informative, motivational and awareness lectures delivered by experts on topics such as importance of NSS, good governance and security, youth participation in developed India and My Bharat Portal. Health and safety were the main focus areas, with sessions on first aid and healthcare essentials. These sessions provided the volunteers with the necessary skills for personal and social development.
Volunteers actively participated in cleanliness drive and tree plantation drives and emphasised on environmental responsibility.
Dr. Sharda Gautam’s leadership ensured an enriching experience integrating learning, skills and social responsibility. The final day celebrated cultural diversity through state-wise dance performances. The camp concluded with thoughts, certificate distribution and motivational words from Dr. Gautam in the closing session, making it a memorable and impactful initiative.
