A 42-year-old Bajaj Finance employee died by suicide on Sunday, citing overwhelming work pressure and alleged mental harassment from his superiors. Before taking the tragic step, Tarun Saxena locked his wife and two children in a room. In his suicide note, he described his struggles to meet recovery targets despite his best efforts and detailed the humiliation he faced from his seniors. He revealed that he hadn’t slept for 45 days, had barely eaten, and was under extreme stress. Saxena also apologized to his family, asking them to take care of each other.

“I am very worried about the future. I can’t think clearly anymore. I am leaving,” NDTV quoted from his note. He also made a personal request to his parents, writing, “Mummy, Papa, I’ve never asked for anything, but now I am. Please build a second floor so my family can live comfortably.”

Police reported that his body, along with the note addressed to his wife Megha, was discovered by the house-help. “Tarun Saxena, who was working as an area manager at Bajaj Finance, committed suicide on Sunday using a dupatta,” Superintendent of Police (City) Gyanendra Kumar Singh told PTI. “A suicide note was recovered in which he alleged that his seniors set unreasonably high targets and continuously pressured him to achieve them,” Singh added.

The family claims that “mental torture” by his seniors drove Tarun to take his life. His cousin, Gaurav Saxena, alleged that Tarun’s superiors, including the regional and national managers, mentally harassed him during a virtual meeting a day before the incident. “In the morning, his regional and national managers subjected him to mental harassment. They even hurled abuses during the virtual conference. He was extremely frustrated since that night, and the next day, he took the extreme step,” Gaurav explained. He also stated that Tarun was threatened with paying out of pocket if he failed to meet targets and had been assigned rural areas like Moth and Talbehat for collections.

Bajaj Finance has yet to respond to the allegations.
