Noida: A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his sister-in-law, with whom he was in a live-in relationship. The two had been living away from their families.
The incident took place in Tronica City, where local residents alerted the police after finding a severely injured woman, later identified as 25-year-old Mehbooba Begum from Gorkha Patesari village in Bihar, lying near the Sapna roundabout and bleeding heavily.
Following investigations, police registered a case under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (attempt to murder) against her live-in partner, Mohammad Azad, also from Bihar.
Azad, during questioning, admitted he had been married to Saima Khatun since 2012 and had four children. He confessed to developing feelings for Begum, his wife’s youngest sister, and eloping with her in 2022 to live in Mumbai. “She began insisting on marriage, and our fights became frequent. When I came to Delhi for a function, I decided it was the right moment to get rid of her,” he told the police.
