Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, in coordination with Jharkhand Police, has arrested a 29-year-old woman from Shakurpur in north-west Delhi for allegedly trafficking a minor from Sahebgunj, Jharkhand. The minor has yet to be located. The accused is charged under Section 370 of the Indian Penal Code for trafficking.
The Delhi Police received a complaint from the minor’s parent a year ago, stating that the accused had brought their daughter to Delhi in 2021 to work as a domestic helper for a promised wage of ₹12,000. “After the first three months, the complainant lost contact with his daughter,” said an officer familiar with the case.
Police are currently questioning the accused to determine the whereabouts of the missing minor, the officer added.
